Tesla owners are increasingly encountering road bullies and vandals. Numerous recorded incidents demonstrate how easily offenders are caught on camera, reminding those who target Teslas that they are nearly always under surveillance from various angles.

Not too long ago, instances of road rage were mostly brief, transient moments that quickly faded away. Around a decade ago, dashcams were still relatively uncommon, and capturing someone's aggressive driving behavior on video was not the norm. Additionally, targeting Teslas wasn’t as widespread back then. Now, the blend of these factors creates a situation where would-be bullies must be aware that they are being recorded—often by multiple cameras.

A recent incident in Florida highlighted this reality. Although the original video was eventually removed from the Facebook group that shared it, it showed a Mazda sedan abruptly cutting off a Cybertruck on the highway for no obvious reason. The Mazda driver seemed to forget that Teslas are equipped with more cameras than a budget reality show. The footage clearly displayed the Mazda driver looking over at the Cybertruck just before swerving in front of it.

The video also captured the passenger from the Mazda giving the Cybertruck driver an obscene gesture. Unique details about the sedan, such as a decal on the door, a kayak and storage bin on the roof, and a disc golf goal on the hitch, were also visible. The Cybertruck owner managed to track down the Mazda driver on social media a few hours later but chose not to comment due to safety concerns.

This trend of road rage against Tesla owners is becoming increasingly evident. In a separate incident, a group passed by a Cybertruck; some individuals gave the Tesla obscene gestures, and one even appeared to draw on the vehicle with a black marker. The pickup owner rightfully decided to document the incident online and seeks to hold the offenders accountable.

In another Cybertruck case, an individual vandalized the side of the vehicle before departing, with the cameras capturing the entire act. In this instance, the owner successfully identified the perpetrator, who ended up facing two charges of criminal mischief.

It’s important to note that this issue isn’t exclusive to Tesla. Vehicles from Rivian come with full 360-degree recording capabilities, and BMW offers similar features. Additionally, manufacturers like Mercedes and MINI provide integrated dashcam options, while Subaru, Toyota, and Lexus also have built-in recording systems—some more advanced than others.

Road rage has always been a reckless choice, but now it is not only dangerous but also exceedingly easy to document. Whether making obscene gestures, cutting someone off, or towing a disc golf basket, there’s a good chance that someone’s camera system is recording the event. Depending on the vehicle, the recording may capture the incident from multiple angles in high definition, ready for both social media and legal authorities.
