In the electric vehicle segment, Ioniq 6 sales fell by 28%, while the Ioniq 5 experienced a sales increase of 17%.

Hyundai achieved record sales in the U.S. for March, selling 87,019 vehicles, which is a 13% rise compared to last year. This achievement was supported by significant sales growth of the Tucson, Santa Fe, and Palisade models.

The Elantra saw a remarkable 25% increase in sales, making it Hyundai's second-best-selling vehicle in March.

Despite the challenges in the automotive market, Hyundai experienced gains with the Elantra and Sonata last month. The Elantra’s popularity propelled it to become the company’s second best-selling vehicle in the United States.

In March, Elantra sales jumped 25% to reach 14,461 units, while Sonata sales increased by 1% to 5,706 units. This increase in Sonata sales is somewhat unexpected, considering it has been in high demand and has already seen a 20% rise in sales year-to-date.

In the sedan category, the Ioniq 6's sales declined by 28% to 1,435 units, but the Ioniq 5 had a contrasting outcome, with sales rising by 17% to 3,919 units.

Hyundai's top seller last month was the Tucson, which rose by 28% to 23,631 units. The Santa Fe increased by 25%, while the aging Palisade still attracted buyers, seeing a 20% rise in sales.

However, not all news was positive, as Kona sales dropped by 26% for the month and year. Similarly, the Santa Cruz struggled, selling only 2,924 units, a decrease of 13%.

Overall, Hyundai's March sales totaled 87,019 vehicles, marking a 13% increase and setting a record for the month, resulting in the "sixth consecutive month of best-ever total sales."

For the first quarter, Hyundai reported sales of 203,554 vehicles, a 10% increase from last year and a record for Q1. The company noted a 68% jump in hybrid sales, while electric vehicles saw a slight rise of 3%.

While impending tariffs could affect sales, Hyundai Motor North America CEO Randy Parker remarked, “With the opening of our Georgia Metaplant and a new $21 billion investment, we’re expanding U.S. production, strengthening supply chains, and creating American jobs. Our commitment to innovation and meeting consumer demand remains strong, and we continue to localize production and enhance our supply chain to help manage market conditions.”
