$36,000 Discount on MSRP After Only 303 Miles? This 2025 Hummer EV Purchaser Executed a Heist | Carscoops
Now is an opportune moment to purchase a GMC Hummer EV, though waiting a bit longer could be beneficial as prices continue to decline.
The 2025 Hummer EV SUV that recently sold on BaT was nearly new, having just 303 miles on it. It was equipped with the $10,000 Extreme Off-Road Package and had a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $120,000. It's not an isolated case, as a comparable low-mileage Hummer EV recently exchanged hands for $82,000.
When the GMC Hummer EV debuted in 2022, it generated significant excitement. People were flipping their brand-new electric Hummers for astonishing prices, with some exceeding $250,000. However, as the initial hype faded, so did the prices. Nowadays, you can acquire one for considerably less than a brand-new model would cost.
We noticed a couple of recent sales that highlight this trend in price reduction. The most notable was a newly delivered 2025 GMC Hummer EV SUV 3X that featured the $10,000 Extreme Off-Road Package, which sold for $84,000 on Bring a Trailer. While still a significant amount, this vehicle had an original MSRP of $120,474, including destination fees, indicating a depreciation of over $36,000 despite only having 303 miles (488 km) on the odometer.
As a 3X model, this all-electric pickup boasts an impressive 830 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of wheel torque, enabling it to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds. A large 170 kWh battery pack powers the electric motors, and GMC claims the EV can achieve a range of up to 312 miles (502 km) on a single charge.
Equipped with the Extreme Off-Road Package, this 3X model is primed for serious off-roading adventures. It features 18-inch wheels with 35-inch mud-terrain tires, five skid plates, rock sliders, a front e-locker, underbody cameras, and a rear virtual locker. Thus, if off-roading your EV appeals to you, this setup seems ideal.
More Evidence of Depreciation
It's quite surprising to see this Hummer EV sell for significantly below its MSRP, but this isn't without precedent. Earlier in March, another Hummer EV SUV 3X was sold on Bring a Trailer. This vehicle had 696 miles on it, an MSRP of $103,315, and over $15,000 in aftermarket add-ons, including $12,100 for full paint protection film and new 22-inch wheels with Nitto Recon Grappler AT tires, yet it sold for just $82,000.
While it's certainly unexpected to see this Hummer EV priced so much lower than its original MSRP, it's not the first instance of this nature. In March, another Hummer EV SUV 3X appeared on Bring a Trailer with 696 miles, an MSRP of $103,315, and more than $15,000 in aftermarket enhancements, yet it also sold for only $82,000.
It’s evident that as the electric Hummer becomes more prevalent and alternative rugged electric vehicles like the Tesla Cybertruck enter the market, buyers are no longer willing to invest the same amount of money in GMC’s offering that they did just a couple of years ago. The initial excitement may have been loud, but the subsequent price drop has been striking.
