The iconic Bus has undergone an extensive restoration both inside and out, and it looks absolutely magnificent.
A 1965 VW Type 2 Bus is currently available for auction following a complete restoration.
Featuring 21 windows and a sliding fabric sunroof, the cabin boasts a bright, spacious atmosphere.
It is equipped with a newly installed 1.9-liter engine that has only 12,000 miles on it since being added.
The new VW ID. Buzz is certainly a stylish bus, and we're glad it's on the market. However, VW has produced many remarkable buses throughout the years, some of which are even more intriguing than the Buzz. One such example is this 1965 Type 2, which is currently available for a new owner seeking a classic with considerable street appeal.
Referred to as the 21-Window Deluxe for its notable 21 windows, this Type 2 is not only a rare find but also a remarkable representation of VW’s design heritage. After a thorough restoration, this van stands out as one of the best-preserved examples you might find.
In 2010, the seller obtained the bus as an incomplete project and completed the restoration, returning the Type 2 to a like-new state. In the early 2000s, the van was media-blasted and underwent rust repairs by its previous owner, who then applied a striking red-and-white paint job. Since the restoration, it has been fitted with powder-coated front and rear bumpers, and the sliding fabric sunroof has been revitalized.
Furthermore, the bus features appealing 14-inch steel wheels with attractive hub caps. It also boasts aftermarket shocks, enhanced front brakes, and a front sway bar for better handling.
The restoration extends to the interior as well, with seats and door panels reupholstered in Mesh Grey vinyl, which perfectly matches the refurbished two-spoke white steering wheel. The distinctive divided windscreen, a hallmark of the Type 2, remains intact, still offering that classic Volkswagen appeal. An Alpine head unit has also been installed for modern audio enjoyment, ensuring that even a vintage van can play music in style.
The Type 2 is powered by a 1.9-liter four-cylinder engine, installed in 2010. Paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, this engine has only around 12,000 miles (approximately 19,300 km) on it since the upgrade, meaning it has barely been used and has ample life left.
The seller originally envisioned this van as a multi-generational family treasure but has now decided it’s time to find a new owner. If you believe you’re the right person to take over this classic, head over to Bring a Trailer and place your bid.
