Florida police recently arrested four suspects following a dangerous high-speed chase through heavy traffic.

The pursuit came to an end when authorities executed a PIT maneuver on a Mercedes SUV.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers found multiple firearms and took all the occupants into custody.

Florida law enforcement was actively searching for a suspect when the situation quickly escalated. What began as a routine pursuit transformed into a high-stakes chase that concluded only after police performed a high-speed PIT maneuver to halt the fleeing car. Dashboard camera footage from several patrol cars provides a detailed view of how the operation was carried out.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Florida Highway Patrol, deployed its Burglary Apprehension Team to track down a suspect in a Mercedes SUV. As officers approached the vehicle for a traffic stop, it became obvious that the driver intended to evade capture.

Video footage from two patrol cars captures the moment officers made contact with the suspect's vehicle. The Mercedes attempted to flee, but one officer executed a PIT maneuver to reduce their speed. This action did not completely disable the car, and it quickly changed directions. However, it failed to create significant distance from the pursuers.

As authorities regained ground, one officer reported that the suspects had discarded a firearm from the window. Moments later, the same officer performed a high-speed PIT maneuver while weaving through traffic beside the fleeing vehicle. Footage from another patrol car positioned directly behind the primary officer records the moment of impact. Over the radio, officers reminded the lead vehicle to exercise caution, but the PIT maneuver was executed without serious incident.

Notably, the Mercedes rolled over during the maneuver, and had the action been executed even a couple of seconds later, the police car or the SUV could have collided with a bystander visible just ahead of the rollover in the footage. Nevertheless, law enforcement successfully apprehended the main suspect along with three other individuals, as reported by NBC 6.

The primary suspect is identified as Dorshawn Tate Jr., a 20-year-old who reportedly completed a prison sentence in December 2024 for a home invasion conviction in 2023. He is currently back in custody facing charges including aggravated fleeing with injury or damage.
