Police dismantled a chaotic highway takeover involving over 25 supercars.
They witnessed at least two cars racing, resulting in two arrests and a citation for a third individual.
Two exotic cars were taken into custody, including a Porsche 911 GT3 and a Ferrari SF90.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that it captured more than 25 supercars overrunning a highway on Saturday. The occurrence took place near the 51-mile marker of Interstate 75, referred to as Alligator Alley. The sports cars halted traffic, performed donuts, and allegedly had a helicopter filming, according to police. Currently, at least two of those vehicles are impounded and three individuals are in custody.
FHP stated that five dark SUVs obstructed the entire highway while passengers exited to film the 25+ supercars behind them. Individual cars from the group would approach the front, perform donuts, and then retreat. Officers identified one of the vehicles as a striking green Porsche 911 GT3. They located the car and took into custody an individual who claimed to be the occupant.
In the course of responding to the incident, authorities also observed a blue Porsche 911 making an illegal U-turn at mile marker 65. Upon stopping the driver, it was found that the vehicle was not even registered. The driver, identified by a local news source as Rashed Fathi Rashed, was charged with a misdemeanor, and the car was impounded.
Ferrari Caught Speeding Down Alligator Alley
About ten minutes later, officers spotted a Ferrari SF90 allegedly participating in a street race. They recorded the Italian sports car traveling at 148 mph (238 km/h) in a 70 mph (113 km/h) zone, and it also lacked a license plate. Once officers caught up to the vehicle, they arrested the driver, Andrew Mumtaz Tadras, and impounded the car.
It remains unclear whether authorities issued citations to any of the other participants or if they gathered information regarding the event's organization. At the very least, three individuals will face the repercussions of their actions. Hopefully, they will remember to refrain from blocking an entire highway if they wish to avoid such scrutiny in the future.
