Encuesta revela que Elon Musk es más popular entre los conductores de autos a gasolina que entre los propietarios de vehículos eléctricos | Carscoops
Surprisingly, truck owners are more supportive of Musk than any other group of vehicle owners.
A new study has been conducted to gauge Musk's popularity among consumers.
It's no surprise that opinions on Musk are sharply divided along political lines in the U.S.
The findings indicate that drivers of internal combustion vehicles, males, and truck drivers are the most favorable toward Musk.
The Hill Research and the EV Politics Project have confirmed what many have suspected: Elon Musk is a highly polarizing figure. What stands out is the clear divide in opinions based on political affiliation and vehicle type. This survey of 600 participants provides fascinating insights into Musk's standing among voters and car owners.
All participants are voters with family incomes of $50,000 or higher, and they completed the survey in November 2024. The results show that Musk has a favorability rating of 42 percent among gasoline vehicle owners, while only 35 percent of EV owners view him positively.
Furthermore, the political divide is pronounced, with 76 percent of Democratic voters expressing an unfavorable view of Musk, whereas 74 percent of Republican voters hold a favorable opinion. This could pose a significant issue for Tesla, as Democratic voters are nearly twice as likely (27 percent compared to 15 percent) to show serious interest in purchasing an EV.
Adding to this scenario, since November, Musk has not notably improved his standing with Democrats and left-leaning voters, which could explain Tesla's declining sales and the protests occurring globally. Sadly, private owners are also facing vandalism as a result.
It is also important to highlight that the EV Politics Project was founded by Mike Murphy, a Republican media consultant. While the survey data appears credible, the affiliation of the source and the relatively small sample size should be considered. Whether Musk or Tesla can restore a favorable image with EV owners and the left-leaning public remains to be seen.
