Tacoma Prices Increase Once More, But Toyota Aims to Mitigate the Impact | Carscoops
The 2026 mid-size pickup sees a price increase but includes several enhancements that may help justify the rise.
Toyota has unveiled the 2026 Tacoma, featuring subtle updates.
Buyers will encounter new color options, a standard tow hitch, and design modifications.
Pricing begins at $32,145, with most trims increasing by $215.
As the best-selling mid-size truck in the U.S., the Toyota Tacoma enters 2026 with a few minor updates. However, the starting price has risen to $32,145, which is before adding a $1,595 destination charge.
This represents an increase from last year’s $31,590, amounting to a $555 hike. This jump is relatively modest, and customers opting for the entry-level SR XtraCab will benefit from a standard tow hitch, making the price adjustment quite reasonable since last year's towing package was priced at $540.
In terms of additional changes, they are somewhat limited, but the TRD Off-Road, TRD Sport, and TRD PreRunner now feature a black Toyota logo on the grille, replacing the previous chrome variant.
Moreover, the Tacoma TRD Off-Road i-Force with the Premium Package now includes 18-inch TRD wheels fitted with 32-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires.
Highlighting more changes are two new exterior colors: Heritage Blue is offered across various trims, while the TRD Pro gains a unique color called Wave Maker.
Returning to pricing, most versions have slightly higher prices than last year's models. The SR5 has increased by $15, with the PreRunner seeing a $215 rise. The Limited, Trailhunter, and TRD Pro also experience a $215 increase.
For reference, the Tacoma is available in XtraCab and DoubleCab configurations with either 5’ or 6’ beds. Buyers can choose a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers up to 278 hp (207 kW / 282 PS) and 318 lb-ft (431 Nm) of torque.
Most variants include an eight-speed automatic transmission, though a six-speed manual is still an option.
Additionally, customers may select a hybridized i-Force Max powertrain generating 326 hp (243 kW / 331 PS) and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque, which is exclusively paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard four-wheel drive system.
The 2026 Tacoma is set to hit U.S. dealerships this fall, with the configurator already available.
