The EX30 and EX90 have introduced a new base model, and the EX40 now offers a Black Edition.

Recently, Volvo launched the 2026 EX90, which boasts significant enhancements including a new 800-volt electrical architecture. The company has now provided further details about the U.S. version of its top-tier electric SUV.

Although the Swedish luxury automaker did not disclose many specifics, they confirmed the availability of a new entry-level version equipped with a single electric motor.

Volvo also announced that the Twin Motor and Twin Motor Performance variants will receive upgraded powertrains that generate up to 670 hp (500 kW / 679 PS). This output officially positions the EX90 Twin Motor Performance as the most powerful production Volvo ever created.

Moreover, while Volvo did not share figures for the other variants, the enhanced Polestar 3 includes a rear-wheel drive option with 329 hp (245 kW / 333 PS) and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque. The company also offers a dual-motor crossover yielding 536 hp (400 kW / 544 PS) and 546 lb-ft (740 Nm) of torque.

In addition to powertrain enhancements, Volvo mentioned the availability of a new electrochromic panoramic roof and ventilated Nappa leather seats, alongside other upgrades such as quicker charging, new safety features, and enhanced computing capabilities.

      **EX30 Now Features Rear-Wheel Drive**

The EX90 isn't the only crossover to receive a new entry-level variant, as Volvo is introducing the EX30 Single Motor, which starts at $38,950, making it $7,700 cheaper than the Twin Motor Performance.

This significant price reduction is accompanied by a rear-mounted motor generating 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS). This configuration allows the crossover to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) in 5.1 seconds and achieve a range of up to 261 miles (420 km) on a single charge.

Buyers can expect various features, including LED lighting, rain-sensing wipers, and 19-inch wheels. A panoramic glass roof, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, ambient lighting, and a wireless smartphone charger are also included, along with power front seats covered in eco-friendly materials.

On the safety side, a range of driver assistance technologies is provided, such as Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Jam Assist. The crossover is additionally equipped with a Blind Spot Information System, Front Cross Traffic Alert, and Pedestrian and Cyclist Steering Avoidance.

**A Rugged New EX30 Cross Country**

Another new offering for 2026 is the EX30 Cross Country, starting at $48,150 and featuring a slightly more rugged design with increased ground clearance.

This model comes standard with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system that produces 422 hp (315 kW / 428 PS), allowing the electric crossover to accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds and travel up to 227 miles (365 km) on a full charge.

Additionally, the Cross Country is well-equipped with a heated steering wheel and heated front seats, enhanced by extra safety features like Park Pilot Assist and a 360° camera system.

      **EX40 Introduces a Black Edition**

Lastly, the EX40 introduces a new Black Edition starting at $60,850, featuring a gloss black badge and black 20-inch wheels. Customers can also choose from paint options including Onyx Black, Crystal White, Vapour Grey, or Denim Blue.

Volvo did not provide extensive details about the Black Edition, but it includes Charcoal Connect Suede Textile and Microtech upholstery with contrasting white accents. Buyers can also expect black embellishments and Dark Cutting Edge aluminum trim.
