For Jeep fans, the holiday season has kicked off early this year.

During a media briefing on Thursday, Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf announced that the 392 cubic inch V8 engine will be incorporated into the Jeep lineup, reassuring fans of the Wrangler, Gladiator, and Hemi, saying, “don’t worry.”

Following this announcement, it’s unlikely that Jeep enthusiasts are relaxing; some may be overly excited. Who’s ready for a four-door pickup with removable doors, roof, and a powerful V8 engine? Get your wallets ready.

Broderdorf stated, “after being on the Rubicon Trail, it’s evident how much people appreciate the roar of the 392.” It’s important to note that vehicles move slowly on the Rubicon Trail, which means engines aren’t typically roaring.

“The 6.4-liter Hemi V8 will find its place at Jeep,” Broderdorf added.

The option for a V8 engine was expected to be eliminated from the Wrangler two years ago alongside various Final Editions, which certainly weren’t final. The 2024 model is priced at $102,000. It was meant to signify the end, but then it was continued for 2025, likely leaving the first group of “Final Edition” owners feeling a certain way.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is exactly as loud and bold as one would expect. With the introduction of a Gladiator 392 to the lineup, both revenue and the excitement factor in Jeep showrooms will only rise.

The Hemi V8 was on the verge of disappearing from the Jeep lineup, with the eight-cylinder engine leaving the Grand Cherokee model entirely in 2024. There’s a chance the 5.7-liter could return to the Grand Cherokee, while a 6.4-liter Hemi might also be added. “We will utilize the power and performance of the 6.4-liter V8 across Jeep products,” Broderdorf mentioned.

Now, the Hemi V8 is back with full force at Stellantis and seems to be spreading quickly. The 2025 Ram 1500 reintroduced the classic engine as a “symbol of protest,” priced at $2,895. The Hellcat-powered TRX is also making a comeback, as announced by the newly appointed Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa.

And now the 6.4-liter Hemi-powered Wrangler 392 continues, poised to gain a pickup truck counterpart. Sorry to the Final Edition owners—the V8-powered Wranglers weren’t the conclusion after all. Profits are a powerful motivator.
